View Full Version : Mbc is puzzling me

I have just fitted an MBC to my s70 with the me7 engine. It has made a considerable difference to the cars performance, however after every adjustment the boost was reading 0.4 bar every time. The thing that is confusing me is the pre mbc boost read 0.6 bar. Both I know from reading other threads are pretty low. I know the mbc is doing something though because at one point I had the car going like f**k.

Can anyone explain the possibilities as to why the boost READING is constant when I am blatantly getting an increase?

I have the boost gauge connected between the dump valve and inlet manifold. Im thinking this might be wrong. Also I have wound the mbc back out for the time being until I can be sure of what boost I'm actually running.

Thanks in advance, Jason.

The ME7 doesn't respond well to a MBC.
ECU says nooooo!

There quite a few threads about this- have a search around mate :)

ME7 + MBC = Error.

Won't work, the ECU is trying to retain control and limiting other factors.

You need the car to have performance software uploaded to ECU to increase boost and performance.

PS. The dump valve won't be helping either with your car been ME7! You may get away with it though if the standard Re-circ is still active.

I'm sure I read a few threads of people saying they have mbc on their me7 and have no problems. I'll have another read through them, but it does seem to make a big difference.

Oh and the ecu has already been remapped. And there is no recirc valve.

After reading through the threads again I realise that before I was checking it was ok to run mbc with remap. I didn't actually check it was ok for me7. I will be removing it, selling car and getting another 850 I think. This car just isn't doing it for me.

And thanks for your responses too by the way.

I have had three cars since my 850:- a passat, a Saab 9-5 aero hot, and this s70. None of them lived up to the 850.

Gonna wait two months til end of insurance policy. Admiral keep asking why I have had so many cars lol. Hopefully by then I'll have the money to buy a fairly clean 850.
