Is this normal?

Have noticed that i seem to have a whooshing sound comming from the steering column...

Only seems todo so when the car is in gear and normally above 2thousand revs...Guessing when the turbo starts to work.

Doesnt seem tobe affecting performance, but not having a t5 before wouldnt know if it was doing anything it shouldnt or not doing something it should!

Cheers
Harvey

Have you disturbed anything? When the clutch was done on mine, the was a lot more noise coming into the cabin. Turns out the gromit ("more cheese?") had come out wher the column goes through the bulkhead. Refitted and the noise abated.

I'm with Dave on this.
It'll be the grommit the slides in on the steering column. Had the same on my S60R after an engine change. Once pushed back on place it'll be sorted.
