Turbo

My turbo sounds like it is giving up. Its started to whine when under boost and the local Volvo lot says its most likely the bearings gone. So, anyone had one of these changed in a non-volvo garage and if so what was total cost?

Are you going to get it refurbed? im guessing its a kkk24 by your sig, a garage would probably charge you about 6hrs labour to do the job + about £300 to have yours refurbed. Ive had 2 x 18t's done by this company and give a 2yr guarentee and 48hr turn around. www.turbocentreuk.co.uk

Probably not, i dont have time to not have a working car. I would need it off the road for maybe 1 day max.

Volvo want £800 for just the turbo. My warranty covers upto £1000. Ill check a few locals tomorrow.

Yeah that would be the price of the part. (Think mine was under £800 but higher than £700).
