white smoke and lots of it

iv been driving my friends 850 t5 auto for afew days and everytime you come to a stop like at traffic lights or junctions it puffs alot of white smoke out the back but when you drive it doesnt smoke at all

has anyone got any ideas what it could be?

As it cold out, it could be just steam, all cat equipped cars produce a lot of water, and this is what you see.

as you say its not yours.....thrash it cure or boom..lol

Does it do it from cold or only when warmed up? if the later then i would guess at the turbo.

only when its warm, its gettin worse, i was just at mcdonalds and i got asked to switch the car off as no one could anything :S

Only on idle and only when warm....i would say the turbo's shagged mate, my v70r was exactly the same when i bought it, could start it up no smoke when it got warm started pouring out.

Edit, you can pick a 15g up for about £60 and its a job you can do yourself in a few hours, no specialist tools needed

I would say turbo for sure fella,, it will still boost the same and go well but smoke like a bitch on idle lol

Lol it's not a good sign is it :( I would be hoping to lol the turbos ain't that hard to change it's just heat shelids are a pain and the oil and water pipes but pretty easy :)

its just a pain in the arse iv already got another t5 in pieces waiting for a new engine and turbo
