replace or upgrade

seen as my t5 is dead and needs a new engine and turbo i was wondering if while im putting the new engine in is it worth changing the 15g turbo for something else and if it is what should i get to replace it

Whats your target figure?

Straight bolt-on turbos are 15G, 16T, 18 and 19T

Bit of work: K24

Some work: Pretty much anything, Garrett Gt3071 etc

before the car went pop on me it was 340bhp iv still got the mapped ecu n everything else so i just want to add onto that

Ok, to keep that sort of power reliable your going to have to change the rods, if your doing that, you might as well give the whole engine a freshen up with new seal bearings and gaskets. It starts getting pricey, I've done a similar built on mine, its cost around £2000. Thats before I have got the turbo

you will not have had 340bhp with a 15g m8 , what other mods is on the car

i thought that but the car came with paperwork and printout 305 atw 340 at fly

itg air filter
remapped ecu
miltek system

think the boost was stupid turned up because it broke the cam, cracked the head, cracked the turbo and exhaust manifold and completely ££££ed the bottom end

I would like more info on this 340bhp, can we see the dyno print out please? I cant see how a 15g can possibly produce that sort of power, what boost was it running?

340 at the fly, I don't think even a 19 will give you that. Thats Garrett territory.

Even my new engine will 'only' be around the 400bhp mark

If there is one thing I have learnt in the Volvo world is nothing is impossible... however I too struggle to see this claimed output. I have seen 300bhp at the crank with a 15G but not alot more.
