knocking and wandering

I have noticed a knock coming from the front near side, not all the time, but enough to have caught my notice.

Also it feels like the steering seems to tug/wander very slightly in either direction occasionally.

I have read numerous tales of drop arms, wish bones and top mounts. Does the wandering nature of the big swede pose any hints? I want to keep under car time down to a minimum due to the weather and lack of garage!

Had a similar thing on my renault traffic, especially when hiting bumps or going over speed humps, and did slightly wander. This was down to Track rod end gone on near side. For the van it was about £50 parts and labour
