hi all,

me and a friend will be looking at building drift/skid project beginning of next year. we've got spares everywhere for the t5 lump. decided to go for the good old 740.

firstly what gearbox do you use? (out of what car, year, model etc)

did any 740's come with a LSD? (if not welded lol)

thanks in advance

I think t5pete is doing something similar with a 240, might be worth a pm to him.

You have picked the easiest of the volvos to do it in as there is pleanty of room as for mods you will need a custom exhaust manifold you can make a me7 inlet work but i dont like the look of them then you will need a sump oil pick up tube and a few other thing off a 960 also the engine mounts aswell (you minds well buy a 960 i did) also with the sump you will need to shorten it and use the 960 one.
As for gearboxes you can use the m90 for whiteblocks or if you want a stronger box like me i have a borgwarner t5 wc gearbox for this you will need the bell housing of a 960auto box then make a adapter plate for the t5 box to fit the housing.
There is loads to do but iseasily doable with time and knoledge if you have neither i hope you have a good bank balance

Nice, will be interested in seeing this when it's done. What you going for a saloon or estate?
Re. the diff's I am sure some of the later 940 sports and HPT's came with an LSD ;)
Try and get one of the earlier flat fronted 740's 85-89 they are the better looking :)
