New tyres for a S60 D5 geartronic. Suggestions please...

Our S60 is coming close to needing new front tyres. It has currently got P6000s and I am keen to try something else as I am not convinced by them (and others concur).
Any suggestions??

You are very diplomatic... P6000's are utterly and truly terrible (I've had em too)

swapped to Vredstein Ultracs which were a massive improvement.

Then to Continental Contact Sports 3's which were a massive improvement over the Vredsteins.

You won't go wrong with Continentals, even if they are a bit pricey.

Or Eagle F1's (Excellent but no good for traction in the snow).

Continental Contact 3's on my V70 at present. They're excellent performers. And I too like to bury my foot and don't take corners lightly. They grip extremely well in the dry and wet, especially in summer. They're carp on snow though.

The ones I have on the rear have been on for nearly 30,000 miles now and they're still legal, although due for replacement this spring.

The fronts I've had on for about 20,000 miles and probably will need changing at around the same time.

So at ~25k on the front and ~35k on the rear I think that's pretty good value for around £100 ish a corner.

Although I had always been a little fussy about sticking with Pirelli - I have to say that switching from P-Zero to Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta (from Tyremen.com) has saved a lot of money and the tyres work very well with the 850 R (215/40/17) - a gentler ride amazingly (well, anyone who has been in mine will know that the ride is, er, firm - but the Ultracs did make a difference).

I don't think you will go far wrong with Continentals though.

Thats not fair, they are fine in 195/65/R15 form on my 1.9TDi Passat lol

Well Evo 2010 says it all conti best all rounder closer followed by Uniroyal Rainsport 2 and Vredstein. Forget the austrailian review as it means nothing here! I found the rainsport 2s good value, they normally retail at £130 odd but I got some for £70 a corner and they worked very well on my phase 2!
