I've just purchased a volvo and I am wondering if anybody has any good ideas on tuning these cars. I've never had a decent volvo myself although my mate (adam) has just sold his an 850R, i made that go really, really fast. I had to scrap my last volvo this week it was a 340 GL in gold, we called it the Golden Wonder, before that I had a 480 Turbo (that too was a piece of pooh),
i lent it to a mate called Dave (he's got an 850R) and he nearly killed it !
Anyway, my new Volvo is only new to me (it's 3 years old) it's got this big boot for my dog (collie, called Mirk) they gave me all these letters and numbers at the garage and told me it is really fast ( V70T5 250BHP 155MPH) but I'm not sure what they meant because it doesn't seem that fast to me. It is nice and comfortable though and i can get radio 2 on the wireless, it's also got one of those CD player things.
Should I try and make it go a bit faster ? If anybody else thinks i should I will, I was having a word with my mate tonight and he reminded me that we've got a turbo that should fit, well he actually said "bolt straight on" and "give it 400BHP" i think it would need one of those fancy chip things as well. Is this a good idea ? Will I be able too go really fast with this?
Regards,
Hamish.

First move your horns. My mate at Volvo Tuning said it wouldn't help and was a waste of time - but what does he know.
I have to say (in my defence) that I was trying to make the 480 go faster - by leaving the water from the radiator on the road. less weight you see. :shifty:

Kalmar Union ? Is that the same Kalmar Union that have a Racing S60 that got beaten in the Britcar race the weekend before last by an OLD GOLF DIESEL. If it's all the same by you i think i might give them a miss.

& I thought you were experimenting with i c water / steam spray. it was the weight loss you were trying (crafty). So if I remove my horns completely will that have the same effect. or will it result in a loss of front end traction causing massive wheelspin ?

Wheel spin can be minimised by installing a travel rug and a dog guard.

I think you should go to a place called volvo tuning where a guy might come in with some donuts and make tea called Dave and he is a bit wobbblee but nice, then some scottish guy come and tells u to not hang aboot in the workshop while him and some guy called Adam who gives yer car a proper thrashing and sneacks off back with yer ECU for some tinckering and repeats that a few time to make it really fast, reliable ,useable, super car catching totally amazing. Bloody good chaps at VT!!!
Or u could have a dodgy chip that makes it run crap all the time unless you thrash it all the time.
Or you could just let the car develop every posssibe air leak, fit K&N inline Filter with extra hot air vents from the radiater filter and a family size baked bean tin welded to the back of the exhaust to make it sound LIKE a Scupapoo IMprezaAAAAAAAAAAA???????????????????????????????? ??????????????
:welcome: Hamish needless to say I can only recomend the very above!! Thankyou! (wish id waited a month :shifty: )
Tell us more about your mate and the 400 bhp T5

Its not my 'mate' that will have a 400 hp v70 - its me!!!!!!!! Over the next few weeks we will be developing a bolt on and remap 400 hp upgrade for me7 cars. This will ultimately lead to us being able to offer it as a drive in drive out service for our customers. The theory is that with the 'new technology' turbo that we will be using this should be easily acheived without changing any internals.

welcome to the forum Hamish, so won't the same technology your using to get 400bhp on an ME7 work for us with throttle cable & things?

Personally I would abuse your T5 in no uncertain terms til it runs like a dog then take it to a company called Volvotuning and moan that its not producing enough power and that your want one of their RICA upgrade thingy's! They will tell you what to do to get your car running right before they upgrade it but hey what do they know!!! LOL
Congratulations on the baby both!!
And keep us updated on the 400bhp project!
