EGR temprature sensor

hi can anyone tell me if this is the intake air temp sensor and did all T5's use them as the wiring i have from a 94 (reg) doesnt have the wire in the loom?

strange answering my own posts but this isnt the air intake it stands for exhaust recirculating gas sensor (EGR)? which the early T5s didnt have.
does anyone know if the early T5s ran an air intake temperature sensor or did the maf do this job?
