you removed one of the ports on the Noble IC or is the FMIC another one? Are you going to be able to close the bonnet with the top mount or you going to bulge it?

very interested to see how it goes

I'v blanked off all the original pipes and welded new ones on where I need them.
I suspect there will be a hole in the bonnet ;), not sure what I'm going to do there yet.

This is usually spouted by people who don't understand how a supercharger works.
It should start boosting from tickover.

Not a lot more to see Duane, pipe out of the turbo straight into the top mount, then you can see the long pipe out of the top mount down to a "U" silicone into the Supercharger, out of the Supercharger into the bottom of the Front mount, then from the top of the Front mount into the Throttle Body, Theres a take off for the Idle controle valve and I need one more take off for the Superchargers Recirc valve. I hope that makes sense.

The idea is that the supercharger compresses the boost out of the turbo, so I have the potential for about 35psi, but wont be going much over 20psi, if it all works I might put my superturbo T70 on :)

p fandango
Wednesday 19th January 2011, 17:50
shame i haven't got any pictures of the hybrid supercharger/turbo my bro bought for his 100e. A very weird thing which was just like a turbo (4 ports) but with a pulley on a clutch system mounted at the end. Worked as a supercharger for the low revs then disengaged & ran off the exhaust once the speed built up

Well as prommised, a vid of the first start, unfortunately I'v run out of hose clips so I can't rev the engine (it just blowes the boost pipe off as soon as i close the throttle)
still to do, fit the oil cooler (I'v just bypassed it for now) modify bottom hose and then tidy up. then comes the slow process of mapping it using a dastek unichip.

20 psi through the turbo?

16psi from the turbo, 10psi from the supercharger when compounded will give me about 35psi, I'll run the turbo at about 8psi.

All the pipes are staying on now, so it's ready to go for it's mot on tuesday (it's going to fail on a wishbone and a split drive shaft gaiter, but I can't get the hub nut undone, so they'r going to crack it open for me at the mot, then I'll change the wishbone and do the gaiter and take it back)
have some picks:

The hope is to start off at 300bhp, then when I make my 3" exhaust, we'll re-map it again, then over a period of time keep upping the boost, eventually hoping for 400bhp with the new bottom end. but that will be a long time off, I'm very pleased with the top mount, the intake air temps are beter than they ever were with the standard interboiler.

Sounds good - what turbo are you running on it... you got a 19T or something bigger ? :)

I would imagine the boost build will be more linear so less danger of bent rods at lower rpm!

The whole point of fitting the supercharger is the ability to have upto 35psi with the standard 15g turbo, it will be mapped to keep the torque below 500nm

Ever since I've had the car I've been annoyed that both near side doors had dents in them below the bump strip, and the near side wing had rust bubbling through, so today I swapped them all for a set the same colour, Every job I do on this car amazes me at how well thought out the design of the car is, the only hiccup I had was swapping the front door handle (I know the trick now).

That's a hard one to answer, it did 275 bhp, but the time before on the same rollere it did 282bhp and then a few weeks later it did 254 bhp on HLM rollers.
so on HLM's rollers itg would have probably done 248 bhp.

Urgh! that's bad, I watched the vid of that happening, it's a good job you weren't at the end of the run doing 100+mph. It's a shame to see all that hard work getting splattered across the windscreen. Are you gonna salvage the vents for the new bonnet, repair the whole bonnet or go for something new (possibly involving locking pins;))

Emlyn has a bonnet for me, and the scoop is fine, so all will be ok :), and yes bonnet pins will be used in the future.

Cost wise, the supercharger swap cost about £350, the car owes me about £1500 all together including the cost of the car, the most expensive bit has been the suspension.

Well the car has been at the tuners for a fortnight now, and the news isn't good, it looks like the engine is knackered now, due to all the running on tick over, the over-fueling has washed the bores and she's breathing really badly now, but we'll keep persevering with this engine for the time being, One run saw just shy of 330bhp, fitted a bigger maf housing today (Vauxhall Omega 3ltr V6) quite handy as the maf sensor from the Volvo is a straight swap.

Jamest5r
Thursday 27th October 2011, 19:18
Ahhh mate sorry to hear that but 330 is mighty impressive, could'nt you leave it as it was then? or is it only over-fueling on tick over but fine when running/boosting?

It's all over the place, hoaping the bigger maf housing will do the trick tomorrow, or the TurboTuner will be for sale and going for Omex stand alone system.

Adam's says he can do me a version which disables all the fault codes, it might help you by deleting the limp mode as well

Thursday 27th October 2011, 20:19
I'll wait until after the weekend before I decide what to do, but the consensus of opinion is the air going through the standard maf housing is to fast for the ecu to compensate, so lets see what this 80mm maf housing does

That sounds like what mine was doing with the tt.

We'd get it set up how i wanted, fueling spot on etc. Then take it on a test drive it would fly one minutethen all of a sudden go into gimp mode.
When this happened it was putting so much fuel in it would hardly run and the wideband was maxed out ???????

I did mention this to adam and also asked if he could check it over for me but I never actually followed it up when the car came off the road because I thought it might not have been that.

Hope you get it sorted soon though mate

That's a bit worrying, if it is faulty, that means i'v chucked a heap of money at the tuners for no reason and scraped an engine.
