whats this module Saffron is on about - what sort of cost am I talking to put it right

if its the stepper motor - is that expensive

its getting progressively worse - and is on all the time now - and idles unevenly - I have noticed loss of power under acceleration on 2 occasions.

still accelerates on the whole quite well

Cruise control doesnt work

I guess I would have to get this sorted before I have it remapped - unless its the ECU that has got confused?

In July 2001 Volvo
circulated, to its dealers, a technical service bulletin ("TSB") that describes a problem with the electronic
throttle modules ("ETMs") that affects 1999 through 2000 model-year S70/V70s, 1999 and later model-
year C70s, 1999 and later model-years S80s, and 2001 and later model-year V70s/S60s. According to
the TSBs, the erratic engine performance of these vehicles may be rectified by cleaning the ETM, and
that the cost of performing this service would be covered under Volvo's new car warranty -- but only if the
dealer receives "a documented customer complaint."

Volvo post 1999 Marelli electronic throttle system (also known as ETS, or throttle body).

Symptoms: intermittently really rough idle, no power, car can do 20 mph only. Will correct with key off for a while, but leave engine management light on and re-occurs soon
Most Volvo's post 1999 have Marelli throttle actuator. This is bringing the engine management light on and eventually putting car in limp home mode.

you also need to factor in the removal cost - not an easy job.
