if it is good at gaming!, it will handle anything else with ease!, gaming is about the most stress your put the cpu under!
amd allways give you the best value for money.

Stick a fresh copy of Windows XP off EBay (£30) with it's OWN key - and it'll work like a charm.

What kind of exhaust does it have mister ?
Well the Intake is 2 x 80mm fan, ( The finger trap ) :D
1 of the intakes is cooled directly from the cold air outside. ( tube running from window straight to pc cpu fan, Which is running at 5600Rpm
Exhaust is 1 x 80mm fan running at 5300rpm from the top sucking out the hot air. ( the malteaser floater )
The pentium will fall flat on its face compared to comparision
It pisses all over my old mans 3.2ghz P4 with 800Fsb 1Gb ram

A p4 3.6 Overclocked to the max , with liquid cooling @ sub -37 temps sounds pretty smart :D. With a 256MB Ati EAX850XT vga card, water cooled, ( coz nvidia is pants ) with 2 Gb of ram running at latency 2-2-2-2 = Mega quick :shockedbi , Above all in for about £1000. got to buy hd.s yet
No one going to make any offers?
p.s u might b able to tell that im a pc freak. :D the joy of being single ... ish

That system will be very loud, like a worn Dyson vacuum cleaner, so going water cooled is a great idea !
My computer is more or less that spec, but with a 256 Geforce 6800GT.
The new Geforce 7 is meant to be the muts nuts at the moment . . . untill ATI pull something out of the hat !
What motherboard are you running - as this is one of the most important components that people tend to over look.
Got to buy harddrives . . . get two SATA Western Digital Raptors and run them in Raid Stripping - lightning.

Awesome spec !
All I do is look at this forum with mine, lol.
Yes, mine is only water cooled to get it silent - noisy part is the Raptor spinning (and that's inside a sound deadening enclosure). The CD drive is deafening !
Cheers

Ha NASA are running , 230 Intel Celeron cpus, Liked into 40 servers, To create the worlds most powerfull Mainframe server / pc. All that power just to collect information about stars , asteroids, other planets, etc, Surposed to capture over a thousand images every second. ( or 270millions calculations, in a second ) so if we were to do a calculation for what that machine does in one second, then it would take us our entire lifetime to do it in. Whos says technology wont over take the world :|
What motherboard are you running - as this is one of the most important components that people tend to over look.
I got The Asus K8N - E Delux, It got some good reviews so i thought id go for that.
When i do get my new hd's they wont be running in raid mode, as the last time i did that, i had a power failure, turned the pc back on and i lost everything. So now i just leave it to thier own drive. but have 4 Sata, and & 2 ide hd's should be enoughs , ( when i get them )
WAs going to go n get a Sli board, but im swapping from nvidia back to ati , Plus i havent got my head round that Sli thingy yet.
DAVE can u shed light on that one for moi plz :D.
But all in all , i think i might just decide to keep this machine, and use it for an everyday machine, Buy my new machine, Without the Sli, USing Ati, chuck windows Xp home on there, Disable alot of junk on there, = Miles faster pc, And use it just for a games machine. Never shall go on tinernet with it , so that will make a massive diffrence. Jsut chuck it in a Thermaltek case, fill it with fans, and cooling stuff of course and , over clock it and off i go :D
Keyz.
P.s , using windows xp pro, for those of u who want to disable olot of junk use this address.
C:\windows\INf (inf is hidden ), then look for the " sysoc" file. open it with notepad all the items that u see whit a " HIDE " word in it , delete it leaving the comma's in i.e
Before Modification = msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7
After modification = msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7
Notice how i have left the comma,s in.
After that go to the add / remove windows components section and a whole new list would of appeared :D. theres quite a few other things that can be disabled that u will not use as a games machine but that could take alday, and i cant be arsed to be honest :D.
Keyz . Ive shut up now :P

sli = "The computing load is distributed through a horizontal division of each individual frame. Of course it can happen that numerous complex objects are located in one half of the picture while the second half has simpler elements that can be rendered quickly. In these cases, the division ratio between the two image halves can be adjusted dynamically, in order to achieve the most balanced utilization possible - and thus, the highest performance."
there you go, lol
you will roughly get an extra 3rd in frame rate speed.

rightttt. :dunce:
So from what u have said. How do u get the performance of both vga cards throguh a single display coming from one vga card?
SO in essence why dont they just wacked to video cpu's onto a single card , acting like a daul vga card, i.e Dual core - 2 cpus,
or 1 vpu core that does 2 jobs at once like dual core cpu's :slap:

in simple terms, there's two ways it can be done, you can select either way in software settings
one card does one half of screen and vice versa
the other way is one card does one pixel line and vice versa.
there was a card came out with dual gpu's but worked with limited sucess( dont know why)
you remember the voodoo graphic cards, well they did a sli thing, back a long time ago, one of the main reasons for sli is marketing, it sounds cool!, bigger sales for nvid

so basically, 2 cards are doing the same job as one card. but the single card doing alot more work.
Wonder why the old board with 2 Vpu, went tits up then.
Outragous folk buying 2 cards for like £800 @ £400 each ) and only really using one of them.
Chrsit my nvid pants card runs al my games at full res, ( 1280 x 1024) with all settings at max. and it doesnt stutter, so i cant see why it would make a major diffrence to have 2 vga cards. The only diff i can think of is in later dates when games come more demanding more than they already are.
for which there almost as demanding as much as a woman , ( i did say almost, yep thats right ) :D :hidesbehi
Only Joking :D where would we be without women huh :P ( a gay world ) ok off topic :troutslap

no, my 2 cards in sli are working at full blast, which gives you really good frame rates in bf2 etc, but with one card, the frame rates will be lower, have you got bf2?,. if you tried that game with one card, and full settings, highest res the card would have problems

you get 2 6800gt for below £300 now, they are both working hard!
