A slightly naughty trick I do to work out fuel from ignition, try spraying a little easy-start into the inlet (short bursts, don't over-do it) whilst opening the throttle. If it revs up cleanly you know your problem is lack of fuel, if it still pops and bangs then it's an ignition problem (won't tell you exactly what it is but it may put you on the right track).

Any luck with this steve? Have you checked the sparked plugs too? Always a good start with a problem like the one you describe.

Im down in great yarmouth later this week and could bring a spare MAF/Distributor and HT leads for you to try.

Let me know.
