Hi, i'm new to your great forum. I'm from South West England and looking for decent company to repair my turbo (TD04L). I think oil seal is gone as the car smokes blue after few minutes of idle, lacks of power and puddles oil under the intercooler drain hole. Any advice of the turbo removal would be helpful too.

Mate used to use Turbo Dynamics.
Never heard anything bad about Turbo Technics either.

Rang Turbo Dynamics today and they were the cheapest. 195+VAT. Company called C R TURBOS were quoting 275+VAT. I think I will try Turbo Dynamics first as it's cheaper and both companys give 12 months warranty. Thanks guys.

Took turbo off on thursday night, not easy job took nearly two hours, I found what I didn't expect. There is very little shaft play. Does this mean that only oil rings (seals) on the turbo are shot? I would imagine there are two of them on the outside of each bearing? Am i correct?

Hi AJ,

my turbo is an Owen Developments rebuilt 19t

They have an excellent reputation and are well versed with our "family" of turbos. I know DIY kits for seals and bearings are available if you have the skills.

My guess is that your PCV system needs a clean based on the smoking exhaust and drippy intercooler rather than worn turbo seals.

Turbo Dynamics reconditioned turbocharger. Fitted it, replaced breather kit, changed oil, new oil return pipe gasket and O ring. It stopped smoking blue, dripping oil. It's third week now and car runs great.
