ha ha i literaly downloaded the pics yesterday as i'd lost them from when i did it a few years ago

here is a finished wiper mechanism (bottom) compared to a standard one (top). What you can see straight away is the drivers side arm has been welded to the mechanism for the passenger side. To find the required length of the arm, cut the 2 arms then turn the motor so the centre spindle so its pointing fully towards the end mechanism them make sure that the mechanism is also on its furthest travel (the modified unit is set in the correct position in the picture to find the correct arm length)

http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/3374/77196998.jpg
here is a pic of the standard motor spline (with the drivers side arm removed for better visability). The passenger arm is pressed into the motor spline & has to be cut up to remove it

http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/8783/34044904.jpg
then the ball joint used for the drivers side is welded back onto the spindle, the notch needs cutting out to give some clearance for the mounting nut

http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/921/43167666.jpg
i then cut the end off the drivers side

http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/9386/94727796.jpg
i used the arm off a Vauxhall Movano because its a nice straight one. It does need shortening & needs the spline off a Volvo arm welding on so it can be bolted to the Volvo wiper mechanism. I also fitted the screen wash jet onto the arm using a universal nozzle

http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/8107/90277727.jpg
by undoing the centre spline from the motor & repositioning it you can adjust where the arm parks

you do lose a bit of the drivers side top corner from the sweep area but this only tends to be a problem at traffic lights etc. The arm does took the edge of the bonnet when it reaches across, it's only marked the bonnet by what looks like a stone chip

hahahahaaa p fandango (your a god dam genuis gump) springs to mind hahaaaaa but looks fiddley and a nightmare to me so think il pass up on this D.I.Y hehe. definatly looks good tho and seems u done a great job there mate. may i ask how good does it work tho and did u keep it on ur car or did u resort back to standard? maybe you should make/convert a few wiper setups as i think u could sell them :D

Or even easier do what I did while drunk at a car show.

Take the wiper motor unit out, use a spanner or something pry the drivers arm bit off so that way there's nothing going to the drivers side wiper.

Or even easier again, just remove the wiper arm from the drivers side and just hop the passenger side one up a few steps :)

the single wiper has got to be lighter so she's still got it lol. Does work very well, as i say the only problems i've had are it touching the bonnet & missing the top corner of the screen (but that must be an issue with any single wiper kit) if i remember later i'll take some pics of how much it covers, BT has got no battery at the minute or i'd do a video.

I found a spare mechanism in the garage i'd half done so there may be one for sale soon/eventually. If i could do my own welding them i'd make them up but having to rely on my bro means they'll never get done lol

at the minute theirs no chance of me making any, my bro's had my manifold for a fortnight & not had chance to weld it yet. If/when we can get time to make them i think i should be able to sell them off for about £50-60 depending how cheap i can get an original wiper mechanism for

I did this on a Cherry Turbo I had (RIP)
For a quick measure (That turned out permanent) I re drilled where the passenger ball joint was, And welded it about 10mm further in to get the extra sweep.
You don't need much due to where the pivot is placed. Worked fine 100%.

tell me about it, i've only just finished work & to top it off i haven't even got internet access on that site (that bored i even did some w*rk lol). I'd say it only took 1hr to make up & with the amount of cars being stripped it would be easy to knock a few up so hopefully i'll be able to do it in the future. I've put the terminals on the battery line now so might be able to do a video the weekend (if i remember lol)
