exhaust manifold - bracket - waste of time?

putting the car back together and just noticed that i have not re fitted the bracket thats located on the back of the block that seems to secure or support the exhaust manifold, worth putting back on? i suppose it must be there for a to serve a purpose?

advise to refit it, leaving it of will cause the manifold to flex slightly when under load and in long run will crack the manifold i'd say or cause it to start blowing.

its not there for show otherwise wouldn't be fitted in the first place
