Hi Everyone

I brought my 854 recently, she was already on 18's and lowered on Apex springs not sure how much shes been lowered by!!!! 30-40mm at a guess.

Anyway to the point she rubs on full lock only which I have been told is a m.o.t fail so my question to you all is, What have the people on this forum done to stop there 18's rubbing???? spacers???? Ive just brought some but not sure if it will help.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks Phill

First of all, hello!
Secondly, get some pictures up! Let's see how low it is!

What size tyres do you have - and what rims are they on - and if they are not Volvo ones, what width is the rim? Has the car been tracked lately? Assume rubbing is on inner wheel arch?

The Tyres are 225/40/18's Brought the car like it and have no idea what wheels they are, she is rubbing on the inside.

Duane (Pedro Fandango) will know what wheels they are if they are Volvo - but I don't think they are (if it says Volvo on the back of the wheel, it probably is - along with a part number). So it is possible the offset is not quite right. Do they rub on both near and offside? If not, it could be the tracking needs adjusting. They don't sit particularly low in the arches. That said, 225/45/17 on a Comet will, I think, foul on my R. Now these are 18" on a 225/40 so pretty tight on space really. I use 215/40/17 and these work well. Not that it solves your problem - although the spacers may help (so long as they don't send the wheel too far out).

I would keep an eye out for Titans or (if you can find them) Volans - suit your car well but only 17".

no there aftermarket alloys, they look very similiar to the Mille-Mignlia Evo wheels i used to have. I had 215/35/18's on mine so think you might be pushing it being wider & larger profile. You can fit later spec steering stops onto the wishbone to stop the rubbing, but it also reduces the turning circle
