while i have my car in a million bits this weekend im going to change all the breather pipes.where the pcv vents back inti the inlet just before the turbo theres a sensor,im planning on exhausting to atmo so will do away with these pipes, can that sensor be unplugged from the loom or does the ecu need it?

The sensor I think your talking about is a little heater for PTC nipple as far as im aware.

I disconnected mine with no MIL or problems when I was venting to the 'atmosphere' on my old 850.

You need to leave the rest of bung in the intake tract though.

I was thinking of doing away with all pcv spaghetti and having an oil catch tank, anyone done this or have an idea what i need to do to accomplish this, for instance what is that little heater for? On mine it was caked in cruddy oil and grease and looks to be feeding it all into the turbo, cant be too good for combustion, what will i need to blank off, bypass etc, any help would be great.

PS dont mean to Hi jack but thought that a few members would like to do this mod perhaps?

as already said you can unplug the heater & bin it without the ECU throwing a wobbly.

i'm half way thru replacing the whole venting system & binning the PCV, must admit tho BT isn't running so not sure if it'll work yet (so don't try it at home folks)

yes i know about the creased 90 corner, a proper one should be here tomorrow. Just need to get loads of jubilee clips to secure it all then

can you simply fit the hose onto the outlet on the block?how have you blocked the drain back into the block beneath the pcv?with the heater removed i can fit a new silicone inlet pipe?where the breather pipe goes into the head would it be possible to weld a 90 degree fitting in so the pipe fits flush?

What do you have in your inlet pipe or is it just the maf?

you could, but think its a bit neater & more secure using hard piping

how have you blocked the drain back into the block beneath the pcv?
i bought a 20mm (not 100% on size) bung, i'm going to swop to an alloy bung incase the plastic can't cope with the heat

with the heater removed i can fit a new silicone inlet pipe?
see the pic below, i made a complete new pipe up for the inlet. You'll need a small pipe fitting putting onto it for the BCS & another for the manifold vac pipe on yours

where the breather pipe goes into the head would it be possible to weld a 90 degree fitting in so the pipe fits flush?
its aluminium, but if you know someone who can alloy weld i can't see why not. Have to be carefull not to warp the cover when welding

What do you have in your inlet pipe or is it just the maf?
i drilled the sensor out of the MAF housing & fitted it into a 40mm collar fitted to the custom intake pipe

own pipe compared to a modified standard one, not got the MAF collar welded in yet.

got the collar but not the sensor fitted. If i remember i'll take a pic of the finished pipe with collar & MAF sensor

thank you very much,im going to do away with the bcs and run a mbc so should be nice and simple to produce.

i plumbed the small vac pipe (also goes to the PCV heater) into the vac tree so no other pipes go to the intake pipe now

the 90corner arrived this morning so been out playing, took some more pics for you

just need loads of jubilee clips now

the sump bung, say i'm going to replace it with an alloy one

the finished intake pipe, complete with a few years of dirt & grime lol. I made the pipe in 3", but the enlarged MAF confuses the ECU a bit

close-up of the sensor, its only siliconed in but been fine. Ultimately i'd like a flange cut to the shape of the sensor so it can be welded to the collar, the sensor can be simply bolted in then

Nice job there mate, do you know what that little heater is supposed to do, the one near the turbo?

i think its to ensure the oil/gunk fed thru the pipes doesn't solidify & clog it up
