I have a December 1996 Volvo 850 T5 that has a poorly clutch release bearing.

Can someone confirm that the 850R Clutch kit is a straight swap for the standard T5 Clutch kit as the T5 and R clutch kits are the same price?

Thank you

The following prices are from Simon as of about 4-5 months ago with the part numbers. This is a direct swap. You need to check the flywheel thoroughly and really fit with an alighment tool to get the setup on well. Make sure you bed the flywheel in and not give the clutch to much abuse after refitting it and you should have a very capable setup. Definately go genuine and you will get a full kit from Simon/Rufe for a great price. Remember genuine parts get a warranty which is excellent and worth every penny.

So, which number is for the 'R' clutch?, doesn't take much to confuse me!

Indeedy do. I'll be fitting the 850 R Clutch to my T5.

Apparantly, the S70 T5 Clutch is the same as the 850 R Clutch, too. (According to the Yanks anyway)

So what's the main difference between the normal clutch and a R clutch? (soz to hijack your thread)

Different material I think to handle more torque

Yes sorry that is the wrong one from my messages. It gives you a rough idea though.

the yanks are wrong mate.the 850r clutch has a stronger pressure plate aswell as stronger springs in the pressure plate.i have 1 fitted to my 940t and its wild.highly recommended and they are rated at 400 bhp too.
