Hello all.
I ran the t5 down satapod the weekend best time was a 14.6 1/4 mile wich im quite happy with cosidering havent got lsd! Its got a t19 turbo rica ecu all been done by hamish lindsay its running 1-1.2 bar of boost got standard air box and a ts sweedish exhaust. Is there any way of running lsd? And also any tips on the next upgrade wat do you people think i could do next?

Seems to me you have all the right gear, supprised you didnt hit mid 13's, you could fit bigger injectors and a ported manifold. Is it running a decat?

I'm guessing yours is manual, i ran a 14.2 with just a remap and filter so i would expect the same if not better out of yours, depending how tired it is etc.

It all depends on the car and spec, I could never better 14.9 @ 99 out of mine which was a phase 1 v70 but CD spec with a 19T and map running 280 WHP (322 BHP) and I had a bag of cement in the footwell!
But im not the best at 1/4 miles.
I guess if you gave me an 854 with the same power and lower spec I could get low 14s but still T5s are fairly poor at 1/4 miles but above 40mph there monster my 19T set up could spin the wheels at 75 MPH in 4 th in the wet!

you sure you were running 280 WHP in your V70?

I got 99.8mph terminal on my first run in the 1/4 with 228 WHP - and an S40 isn't much lighter than a V70.

1/4 time is a measure of driving skill... but terminal speed is more about power :D

It's not about the top end BHP/WHP, it's all about the mid range Torqe, that's what haul's the big ass volvo up the strip.

But you've also got to be able to drive:B_steerin

you can get a Quaife diff to fit the M56 gearbox

19t with no remap or LSD, can't see the time very well but did 13.9@101mph

I managed a 14.9 @ 98mph in my old S70 x plod T5,
I have a slightly better spec than you now in my V70R fwd and tbh my R is miles faster than my old T5, I would've thought you would be in low 14s at least, JMHO,

I havent had it rolling roaded but its p458xjo the hamish lindsay car they done with the ap breaks and all dont no if youve herd of it? It was aparently 340bhp but i dout it is! Its the same speed as my mates 300bhp escort cossie from second gear to the end of 5th! I would like too take it somwhere and get someone who knows about volvos to have a good look at it. Im in essex is there anywhere near me?

You could try look for a M59 box with driveshafts, much cheaper option, but if you want to eliminate it completely a quaife is the way to go, about £600 from Kalmar Union.

I jad a knocking sound a little while ago wich was supposed to be a bent con rod but i carred on driving her then 1 day it quitend right down to almost nothing
But even then it hasent lost no power? Strange!

1/4 mile is about a number of things not just about the power and planting it off the line.
If you can get off the line with out lighting up 1st /2nd then your half way there,good rubber always helps aswell and lsd is a bonus.

when you bend a conrod the clonking is the shoulder of the rod hitting the piston because its now out of line & S-shaped, they will wear against each over until there is enough clearance

I am in Ilford but it is tipping down, As for the crank, it is the conrod hitting the crankcasing, eventually if it is only a small bend and on one conrod you can get away with it, i would change your oil asap, as you don't want any swarf circulating,
My best car i ever owned back in 2006 bent 5 rods, sounded like a tractor, i am still annoyed at what i did, teach me for trying to rush everything at the last minute,

Im sure your S 40 is lighter and more aero dynamic, my V70 did have 280 WHP it had 230 WHP with just the original 16T and rica. 280 WHP with the 19T and remap. It is now in the hands of an aeroplane pilot who had owned several tunned T5s and Rs and he said it was his fastest T5 yet. I think its a waste of time comparing T5s on the drag strip, my V70 as stock would do 15.3 @94.5 mph with a rica map 15.0 @ 97 MPH and a 19T and map 14.9 @ 99.(bag of cement in passenger footwell. Im crap at 1/4 miles but on the road cough private road the car was a monster and a standard T5 verses a tunned 19T T5 is night and day, I have no doubt she had 280 WHP and I did have the dyno before and after to prove plus around £2k worth of recipts, all of which are with the current owner.

You seem to like questioning my car's power but really I think its must be my poor 1/4 mile ability, today I got beaten off at the lights by a young girl with braids in an A3 2.0 TDI Quattro she had the better inside racing line and I had the outside line and found myself difting towards a curb, (This of course was totally within the speed limit infact she then sat at borringly at 39 mph all the way.

Yea ive changed my oil twice since the tapping started after the last one it seemed to go quite you can only really hear it for a second after u start it! Tonite im going to check it for boost leak then after that dunno! I think its better to bye a a donner t5 and put the engine in mine instead of doin conrods! Could i fit a v70r engine in mine would that be any better with my rica 340 ecu n map and the t19 ? Is the everything the same fitting wise or am ibeing silly?

I think there are a few differences and I dont think its as simple as a straight swap as the v70r would be an ME7 engine unlike the 850.

Ive just re connected my boost gauge after months and months of being lazy and noticed that when i hit boost after a second the boost drops 0.5 bar. I started with the easy thing and cheked my bailey dump valve and it was bloody leaking. This could have been like this for ages! I put my old cheap dumpvalve back on and went out to help dry the roads burning rubber lol! Unbelivivable that somthing that obvious and simple can loose u that much power its like a new car!!!!!! Happy now
