Ok looking to get mine on the rollers next week but the company ive been chatting to run in 3rd gear,now wouldnt that show less power as say 4th would give alittle more boost?

4th is closer to 1:1 so will give a more accurate reading of what the engine is doing, i've seen a few dyno sheets being done in 3rd recently & can't remember why tbh

Never had a dyno run done on a car but a few years back had a streetfightered kawasaki 1100 which i had dynoed. The operator definately ran it in top gear(6th) and took the revs up to about 10500 revs where it was producing about 139-140 bhp, he wasnt going to push it anymore.With a little coaxing from myself he took it around to the limiter in top, 11000 or 11500 i think and managed to get a final figure of 147 bhp. So IMO top gear and nail it is the way to go. Running it in 3rd should give you an idea of the shape of the power curve though but(this is only an assumption) wont give you that magical max bhp figure that you are looking for.

As P Fang said, 4th is the most "direct" gear therefore will give you the most accuate reading

Tricky one that mate as they will be head to head so in theory the fastest car should win with equal starts. If you are anything like me the racing bit is the fun bit the times are a bonus and get lower the better the race for some reason.

Still havent answered the question so open to suggestions lol.

It needs to be as central as possible to get the best attendance I think, I would certainly be up for it. If anyone knows a good garage with a decent dyno then Id be willing to arrange a dyno meet ;)
