Well I've done most everything...

How much would a ME7 B5234T3 engine cost and what would be good things to do to it (in my shed).

thinking about forged rods and doing some work with the head. Port & polish. I am good with polishing mind.

Thoughts...

Yeah well i'll have a look for ya, know we were talking about it for secret project :shhh: lol

i know, i know i need to get pics up, waiting for iphone 4 on monday for good quailty pics, going to give it snow foam and rinse.

Mate has the lance and snowfoam, which i didn;t know, just going to rinse down as just surface dirt on it the now. Dry off and going to clean rest with pro detailer, waterless wash, then aplly the wax and buff off.

Everyone has been amazed at how small the beading is when it rains, which it has done since got back lol

So busy finishing it I never got chance to see the finished article. Anyway - wonder if the boffins on here can tell if a 2,4 t5 engine will work in an ME7?

If not i don't see why it aint possible, just a case of compression changing due to displacment i would guess ???

The 2.4 T5 260 hp engine is also ME7 (slightly different revision). But then it's not really an "engine project" by sticking a different engine in.

Is it a project you're gonna have a go at yourself?

My confusion was with what age the 2.4 is

the ealier one seems to be me7 and later and last one after 2006 seems to be 2.4 me9

see http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?p=321242

That is why i mentioned the me9, i'm thinking dave wants to work on it in the shed as he said and see where is goes. I dunno if he would drop it in the car or not. Makes sense, saves having car off road to work on it

Could get a 2.3 me7 fairly easyily then bore out, forged pistons and rods, up the boost pressue about the max of about 1.2 bar on the 19t.

Didn't think so mate, just browsing. The me9 might give you problems with wiring of the ecu etc.

Really don't know how it is set up, the second link had a picture of a me7 engine and he says he got various engines going

FOUND AT LAST lol

2.4 2006 t5 me9

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BREAKING-2006-VOLVO-T70-2-4-TURBO-PETROL-ENGINE-B5244T5-/140431154792?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20b2595e68

though after looking it appears it is me7

B5244T5 260 / 350 8.5 2,401 ME7.01 S60/V70 T5 (2005->)

Found here http://www.volvoforum.no/volvo_info/motor.htm
so if it is me7 should be easy to swap ??

I will keep an eye out. Idea of the spare engine was to rebuild it with extra goodies. This engine is too expensive.

I'll keep eye out too mate, though by getting a 2.4 would have to be high mileage to get for good price me thinks.

I have seen then 2.3 me7 for about 400-700 quid on ebay before, did you try this guy http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLVO-ENGINE-S40-V40-850-C70-S70-V70-/260506158400?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3ca7608540 ???

TBH the engine project would necessarily require a complete overhaul of the engine. the 2.4 you found is awesome & i would have it in a flash - just that the wedding is prohibitively expensive.

Looking at a head overhaul - new con rods and pistons.

How come you wanting to change engines dave why not just forge the one you all ready have

Wobbly Dave

Pete, it is just a question of keeping the car on the road. Also I think the 2.4 option will bear more fruit.
