Go on then, here is one i hope we can solve on here.

854 T5 Saloon 1996 125K on the clock.

Noise description = grind / creak
Location = passenger side front wheel / drive shaft assembly

It is a rotational noise on off on off on off etc etc (bit like when you have a warped disc) varies with speed.

Happens when you put light to medium power down constantly (on off on off) and when braking. It does not happen though when the car is coasting in gear or out of gear.

My mecahnic has had a look at it and done the usual checks on the front assembly and can find no obvious causes, checked drive shaft, bushes etc etc.

Its going in on Monday to have the boots pulled back and remove the anti roll bushes to see if that shows anything up.

Commonly thought suspect at the moment, inner Cv joint / Drive shaft worn.

What are your thoughts ?

Any mechanics out there come across this.

P.s the steering still tracks perfectly, no vibrations either accelerating or under braking, no loss of free wheel in that wheel.

:wtf:

Well I think you've almost diagnosed the problem.
Rotational - Clutch, Gearbox, Driveshaft, Wheel bearing/hub, Brakes or wheels.

Does the noise get louder when going round certain corners..? Wheel bearing
Is the noise louder when you go round tight corners..? CV joints
When the noise appears press the clutch pedal to see if the noise disappears.... gearbox related issue.

Other things like stone lodged in the brake system...
Cable tie rubbing...?

The rubbing and the creak maybe unrelated...?
Did it start all of a sudden..?

Let us know what the mechanic says...

Cheers guys

I have had a new clutch and a new box recently so hopefully it wont be them.

If you give it full power it doesnt make the noise, so hopefully that will rule out a box fault.

It doesnt get louder going round a corner, it does it all the time.

Lets hope its something cheap.....

I know i can get a full drive shaft assembly for £60 so maybe it'll be reasonable.....i hope.
