door clunk/click

when i open the drivers door on my v70 i get a loud double clunk/click and then again when i close it, this is the 3rd one to have this problem does anyone know how to fix? its obviously a design fault with these cars

There is a bolt which works loose quite often, mine was the same when I got it, tried tightening it but it only lasted a week or so each time - took bolt out, put some threadlock on, done it up and never had any more problems.

Sometimes the mounting breaks free of the bracket which is a pain but normally it's just the bolt in the middle of the doorstrap when you open the door - fingers crossed mate

Mine had this problem which was a result of a broken door check strap. It ended up putting outward dents in the outer door skin. The check strap is about £20 from volvo and can be fitted in about 30 mins. I did a step by step guide on fitting a while back but think it could have been lost in the forum crash a year or two ago.
