Ive spoken to hlm at bromsgrove and they are quoting realistic figures of around 280bhp for both ecu upgrades one for 95 and the other for super petrol, has anyone got experience of both of these ecu's? obviously i want max power but if they are the same then cheaper petrol would be better, although i always use super anyway, anybody know these upgrades? Knowledge is power lol

with a mbc you will not get the correct settings for your car, all it does is up the boost levels so to speak. some swear by them and others prefer the ecu route, theres plenty of answers on the search bar to help you. with a ecu you will have better mpg anyway so the petrol price is not such a worry.
with a proper remap yes the power is increased but it is all done within safe parameters, i myself will be looking at the 304 as i always run v-power, this month though my budget was taken up by exhaust, rip, and pcv so next payday the 304 shall be here.

ECU would be the mod of choice unless you're getting into bigger mods.

if you're tuned in my opinion you should always run on V-power or similar, you may as well get the 304 - bear in mind you will be getting more like 270-280 whichever map - 304 is a little optimistic :)

At the end of the day if you choose the 280 you will only start wondering what the 304 is like.

Have had a HLM 304 for 3000 miles so far on my 96 t5 manual (with aircon), works a treat, a very noticeable difference in power. I thought about the 280 but in the end couldn't have it as they don't do it for a 96 t5 manual?! Have tried to avoid running it on anything other than shell super unleaded optimax since then.
