Just fitted the r.i.p kit i bought off smithness and cannot believe the difference.

either i had a leak somewhere or it has made a massive change, the car is instant on the throttle, no lag, no build up, and the noise !!!!!

car hits 5psi in 2nd as soon as you put your foot down at any revs, then 9psi ish in 3rd onwards, the boost gauge just flips round with no stalling at all.

its never done this since i had it, it always took ages to get the boost pressure up, funny thing is though that it does not seem as quick or such a push when it comes on song but guess thats because its instant and all the way through ?

glad i left the blank in place and removed the dump valve as wastegate chatter is wicked !!

just hope it wont harm the turbo, hay ho 304 ecu next week then exhaust, roll on the good times and thanks again smithness youve made my day !

nice one, always nice when a mod makes a noticable difference. Is it an original Volvo RIP kit or an aftermarket kit?

BT had the factory kit but i upgraded to my own 76mm kit

its a homemade kit off smithness, just popped outside and measured it with my vernier caliper and its 76mm pipework

76mm RIP kit on a 15g no wonder your smiling lol, i've always wondered what it'd be like on the smaller turbo (no offence) after knowing how much it reduced the lag on the 19t

you do realise a Volvo 960 throttle body is an easy fit now :dgrin:

my bad. The throttle body is an easy fit, bolts straight on but you do need to enlarge the manifold port & extend the wires for the TPS (throttle position switch). Some people say its a bit on-off at lower speed but throttle response is better if you give it some welly

maybe worth looking at when the manifolds off for the pcv, does it make much difference performance wise ?

i did mine the same time i did my RIP kit so can't really say. Forgot you'd also need a bigger diameter pipe to fit onto the throttle body, i assume at the minute its a 76mm-55mm 90degree reducer but you'll need a 76mm-76mm 90degree instead (i've got one spare if you do decide to give it a go)

the throttle body hose i have at the min is 76mm-76mm, just very squashed down with a jubilee clip lmfao, i think if i have gone this far then i cant stop without fitting the 960 body, damn evil modifying bug............

Next million dollar question then is............................. from which model 960 do i look for a throttle body ?

lol thats cheating, all you need to do then is enlarge the manifold port (easy with a flap sander) & extend the 4 wires (not brain surgery really). Its the 3litre V6 model you want LINK (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLVO-960-3-LITRE-THROTTLE-BODY-/120581690629?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c133a9505)

be interesting to see what difference you note having done the mods seperatley

say some people don't like it staying the throttle is like a switch, i've always liked it but thought i'd warn you
