Apologies if theres a sticky somewhere, I couldnt see one.

Anyway, Im probably going to swap my barge of an A6 2.7t for a S60 2.4t auto. I would like to know what to look out for when buying as Ive never owned a Volvo before.
Any advice much welcomed.

Knocks and bangs from the front suspension are not uncommon on the S60's. Poor steering lock is normal though, and three point turns end up being 24 point turns ;)

Check the computer, and make sure everything reads correctly. There was something about the mileage or time counting backwards, this could be a DIM error, and its a clocks out and send to a specialist job (though not that dear and not that common)

Check under the front mats on both passenger and drivers side for wet, this could mean the heater matrix is stuffed.

Obviously, being an Auto check the box changes properly and check the gearbox dipstick and see if the oils is nice and clean and dosent smell burnt.

I think the front suspension is the main thing to look for, other than that, they are pretty bomb proof.

You may find the ride harsh compared to the Audi, but they are a lot more comfy and the dolby stereo's are superb (if it has one)

Good luck

Those A6 2.7t are nice tuners :)

I hear they can have some turbo trouble, you selling the 2.7t or p/x ing?

Actually could be swapping, yes mines approx 300bhp its quite swift and very comfortable. Turbos are not really an issue, they are the same units as seen on 1.8t's. They suffer because of Audi's stupid longlife service intervals, anyone with half a brain should do an oil service every 5/6k :)
Thanks for the replies, my Audi has a Bose 12 speaker system so Im not expecting any Volvo to be better! My only real concerns are the auto box, Ive never owned an auto car before but I shall follow the advice given.

I'm no expert but apparently regular flushes and stuff help a lot with the Autos.

You've had your 2.7t modified then? you may find the lack of traction in the T5 amusing after enjoying quattro! The economy might be worse too...

I came from a pretty rapid Impreza to the A6 and the stock 250bhp just wasnt enough for the big barge, so I had it remapped within a week of ownership :) only other mods are 19" RS6 alloys, I dont like to play too much with my cars. Only getting rid for something that costs less to run! Would 100% keep it otherwise.
