I have been really busy the last week getting the car prepped inbetween showers, It has been a real nightmare dodging the bad weather,
Anyway i decided to tackle the job of painting the bonnet rear bumper nearside top wing and wing mirrors,
I also fitted some new additions to the car, I am not sure about them but they might grow on me, But thought i would poll it as the Brows are still not quite right looking,
Briefly my car was Saffron which i liked lol, As this was the filler Primer that i used, excellent stuff for filling all the pins holes and small swirls,
Tomorrow i will be out rubbing the paint down and mopping it over,

Well done Gaz, did you paint the whole bonnet as discussed?. Looks good from the pics you've posted, what did you paint it with?, was it tins or a compressor and gun?.

I had 2 choices with the final coat, Either i leave it untill September then go up and see Tomcat as he has all of the equipment or just say go for it and use 400 ml cans which i got made up with a exact match for the car, I had nothing to lose if it look rubbish then i had the TC option lol,
The amount of people asking me do i do it as a business! Yeah right i always spray on the street lol,
The prepping really got to me, It is so time consuming, But i got there in the end,
The Brows were the biggest PITA, As you cannot get them for the S70's,
So i bought a set for a S40 and modified them by cutting and filling the gaps with Chemical metal and primer,Took hours to get them right,
All in all, The total was about £35 for paint and other bits,
How much would that be from a Body shop? £200 maybe?

Gary

PS I am going to do my fr bumper next and my side skirts as they are a bit naffed up, But that will be in September when i am back home.

TC I painted half of the bonnet, It took a whole 400ml can to do it,I cut the bonnet back to halfway with 1200 grit, As the Saffron primer was only about a third of the way up,Then blended the bonnet in halfway,

I am sitting here with a itchy trigger finger, Tomorrow i am going to paint the Headlamp Wiper arms and the grille outter edge in White primer, Then Monday go get another can of White paint and finish the job off,
I think the car will look better with the grille looking a bit smaller,

Think the brows look good with those lights - not sure if they'd work with standard ones but they set of the jewel units a treat!

Good work that man. :)

Thanks for all of your replies, Brows will stay for now, Unless they fly off at high speed lol,
I must admit they do look different with them on,
Went out at midnight and took the Wiper arms off and rubbed them down,
Not so much to do tomorrow now,

I got my priorities all wrong today, Couldn't afford to go to the Seaside meet as i am on my Hols next weekend,
Was far too lazy to cut the new paintwork back :slap:
So i primered the Headlamp wipers and the outside edge of the grill,I have had to photoshop it to get it to resemble what the finished grille will look like so please accept my first photoshop apologies,
As you can see the normal grill was quite large, And i think it looks a whole lot better now the black edge has gone and narrowed the look of the grille,
What's your opinions?

With old grille in place for comparison,

I think the wiper arms are OTT, so i will spray them matt black tomorrow,
The grille i think i will take off the masking tape then take a pic of it with the slash in place, As it will be virtually the finished article except for the top coat, If i don't like it i will matte black that too.

Been thinking about the Wiper arms, So today i decided to take them off, I will probably fill the holes and sell the wiper arms and motors at some stage,
I fitted the grille as the Photoshop job i did didn't really give a true view of the car, So i fitted the grille it is only in its primer stage and so is not colour coded yet,
That's it now no more touching the car untill September i think lol,

PS I know before any says the Bonnet needs cutting back.

Al i had to take them off, Otherwise they would've hit the brows, I have 2 choices now shorten the wiper blades or keep them off and buy blanking plates, I am in 2 minds, but that dilemma can wait as i am not touching the car now for another 2 months, Well physically i am not mentally i am at it 24 hours a day lol,

Gary

PS It does look real mean now, Turns more heads than before.
