I have seen a few v/s 70s off the clock with other people driving but then you have to take into account the speedo accuracy

Off the clock ( 160mph) no gps running at the time, but the GPS and speedo always agree with each other. Rough guess 165 - 170 mph. Not on a public road i may add. Ran out of revs, was pulling 5500 rpm in top gear.

Took for bloody ever to stop as well, even when i thought id got the speed right down I looked at the clock and was still doing 100 mph :-)

The S60 is not very stable at that speed, every little bump in the road made my arse twitch !

With all my Volvos the 16t do seem to struggle above 130, best car i had for speed that was stable was my V70R AWD got to 150 easily and still pulling (mte) now the Saffron R is faster but i have never had the chance to try it out anywhere, previous owner had 160 on the clock, but now it has been tinkered with even more.

I had 167mph out of the Saffron V70R, the RS4 will do 191mph flat out with enough runway, both GPS!

Is GPS really that accurate?

It says I am always going slower than i am versus my speedo even at low speeds...

Justin
Thursday 10th June 2010, 15:19
Within 0.5mph they reckon, so as near as dam it. The audi shows 189mph with gps saying 191. The V70R was off the clock (160mph) almost vertically down when gps said 167mph.

I guess most cars differ on accuracy :)

GPS is extremely accurate for measuring speed - more so than for location.

I use the GPS display to make sure I stay 'legal' not the speedo on the M-way.

I'd be interested to know my top speed - it's 149mph from stock (at 220bhp)

which means if I'm running 275 my top speed should be:

{Square root of[(current power)/(stock power)]}*stock top speed

which equals: 166mph :)

Is 191 the terminal for your RS4 ? :D

Im better on hills, i dip my head down and get about 12mph out of my push bike. Once the sheer speed and potholes blew one of my led lights off. I reckon with higher pressure in my tyres i could push 13mph.

I tried using GPS to see the closest speed, but i fell off and eat a bush.....HARDCORE!

I might shave my legs next.

My 15g auto 855 had more top end than 854 manual [both rica 304] at an indicated 160 and 150 respectively. My manual P1 V70R [rica 310] had more top end than either of the others, but my 854m was quickest under all other circumstances.

Once you experience a super bike, perspective changes somewhat, 15-16 seconds to 180mph. Ironically my chum with such a bike, a Kawasaki ZX10R has a P1 V70R!

Terminal?

191mph is as fast as mine will go, limited to 155mph, yet mine and others i have asked are not either. Book says 174mph, yet i can assure you thats what mine does. I was looking for 200mph but drag and power are not on its side to do it. The only way is to strip it of weight or fit a supercharger, i dont wish to do either. Believe me, even on a track 191mph is scary!

My old manual 855 T5 manual ( stock ) done 142mph flat out and the recent 855 T5 auto ( HLM 304 and Pipercross filter ) does 162mph so far, got the sat nav to prove it as well.

Worst thing about it was i wasnt even driving, my uncle was, thought he'd take it too work ( Prestwick Airport ) when i was up there on holiday last year and give it a leathering down the unused runway at the back :mad111:

Didnt even know until i went to reset my nav :grumpy:

212 mph indicated on private runway not too far from Poole harbour.

Ok it wasn't in the car but on a lightly fettled 'Busa - Felt as rock solid and safe at that speed as at 50 mph - but don't try waving at anyone at that speed :D

My T5 is pretty fast and stable but I was to busy concentrating to look at the speedo. I'd like to do a flying mile day just to see.

My 68 Camaro did 0-107.28 MPH in 6.922 seconds and the 1/4 in 10.594 seconds @ 133.21 MPH on it's last run against a quite nippy Audi rs something or other. The Audi ran a 13.126 seconds @ 116.00 MPH so it was no slouch.

I don't know what it will do top end and the speedo only goes to 120MPH but it used to make the dotted lines join up

The drag Supra and the rig (as she currently stands) are both out there (out there being Canada).

The Supra is running a supercharged and turbo charged 9.4 litre Chevy V8 (we love those engines, swear by them for our drag cars) running just shy of 1500hp. Does the 1/4 mile in low to mid 10s at the moment, just can't get the traction down fully. When it can plant the power down without just spinning the wheels, should run mid 8s. Just the start that is killing us at the moment with that one.

I'm gonna run the rig and hopefully get that running the 1/4 mile in 12 seconds, that's my aim.

I like going very very fast if you hadn't guessed? :D

147 in a stock 854 T5, 150 in a stock p1 v70 on the speedo with a 19T and remap I saw 160 mph before chickening out she was still pulling and showed 156 mph on GPS, I had 160 on the clock out of my P2 but never had gps to refer to.
My Jag XJR would hit the supposed 155 limiter at 165 speedo, Ive had 155 out of the S4 and still had loads left to play with.
