im going to shakespeare raceway on the 11/7/10 sunday to improve on my times,and it would be nice to setup a proper meet like before so if peeps are interested then lets try and get it sorted all volvo clubs are invited lets make this a good turnout .what do people think

everyone has been talking about how fast your car goes in 3rd gear mate with that 18t etc i think you are looking at very low 14s or high 13s mate when the car is tuned

i will try mate i did a 14.4 with a nackered clutch and 16 psi boost and a 6k rev limit but now good clutch ,ttv flywheel,24psi,7k rev limit anything is possible .and you could get high 14s too its a good track at avon mate

Would like to, but its a long way and just don't know if i can afford it. Prob shouldn't be doing this 1 as i need to get 2 of my wheels refurbed, emissions light sorted and a new wishbone, and i'd like to get some new mods(maybe). I will have to see nearer the time.

Wow! 30mpg, that takes some doing in an auto. Mine seems a little better now the lambda light has gone back off. Ran it very low, then filled up with v-power (£80 and still wasn't full!) and 5 mins later the light went out.

It was 33 at one stage....now at 27.2 but been town driving....had the inlet breather pipe cleared and a full head rebuild so thought that would go someway to the improved consumption.....heel of a price to pay for that tho (£1,200)

the gates are normally open about 7ish, but you'll be lucky to get on the track before 9.30 because of scrutineering & the track prep.

i'm not sure on the helmets because they've only just made it compulsory to wear them, i'll be taking a couple (both large) if anyone needs to borrow one

Cheers, i remember that from york. Mine is running perfect at the min, don't know if that means i'll run faster than at york (15.3), but its running smooth and with no lights on. Needs a bit of a clean tomorrow mind.

My A/C (sorry dual zone C/C. lol) is working fantastic, so no worries there. Don't know how i'd live without it, most important luxury to have on a car for me!

my aircon needs a regas, so its back to windows down & annoy everyone with Prodigy as loud as poss lol. Cruise control is the gadget i use the most, but when i was looking for Bonny i wasn't bothered about aircon or cruise control because its the first car i've had with it. certainly go for both again tho

Cruise control is good on a long journey, seems to help with the fuel consumption too. Only owned 3 cars and they've all had a/c or climate, even my 1993 audi 80 had a/c (and it was bloody freezing too!), although it did make it impossible to find a 2nd hand radiator for it, when mine started leaking.

Another great day's racing, good to see some new face's.

I managed to get 10 runs in..best 2 were 14.38691 & 14.39716, happy with that as i know there is more to come as it still running in the 16t map.

Fastest 850 was Rnash with a blistering 14.03 i think, and the green? s60r was mid 13's i think.

60 yard of 2.037 though.

It was my first time and it was hot lol but more seriously the car is a working progress, just need to work on the top end of the rev range and sort the heat soak issues

Usual highs and lows. Finally broke my 14 second duck. 14.75 seconds at 102.6 which I am pleased about. The traction went off for me very quickly and I was not able to repeat that performance. I still think there is better to be had, Well done to Rnash and the S60Rs for putting in a great time.

Best 60Ft was 2.3 seconds for that best time. Just couldn't get near it again.

1. 14.572 @ 98.11MPH
2. 14.749 @ 96.11MPH
3. 14.787 @ 96.31MPH

The differences for me against York were:

I had a great day too, bit dissapointed with my times but then again i didn't buy an auto s70 to go drag racing in, but its good fun and would be rude not to really. I got a faster time than at york (i say i got 15.1, but it was a 15.199 so really a 15.2:grumpy:), but my terminal speed was actually slower than at york (92.7ish vs 95ish).
Would like to point out though that it was a very hot day and everybody who was running would maybe have ran a 1/10th or 2 quicker had it been 10c cooler.

I'm always changing my mind about what i'm going to do. Even if i do sell it, it'll probably be for another volvo, maybe a t4 (i'm an s40 t4 person, something about them that i like), even though i would like a 99 jag xjr there aint no way i could afford to use it every day.

Anyway, i was actually realy pleased yesterday with the s70. I drove from leicester to the track and it spent a lot of time sat there with the engine running in all that heat (got too heavy to keep pushing. lol), took all the abuse going up the strip and then took me home with the climate control on and using the cruise control in complete comfort and never missed a beat, not even a small hiccup!
Obviously, i can't see the rear when its moving, but i'm sure if it was smoking then someone would have told me. It may not be the fastest up the strip but it does what it was designed to do perfectly!

BTW, was at my local bmw independent today, and a bloke came in, in a very new looking 335 convertible wearing a suit and had a briefcase, and started going on about how good my car looked and how well made the old volvos were. Nice to get some praise, especially has his car would cost over 10X more than mine.

Come on mate my mrs drives a 4 spd auto and its an estate, she got 14.7 at york last year with temps hotter than yesterday lol, its all in the start, you've got to be more committed with your power start's(just ask Jelt5). You know you have the bug now so will see you early september for the next one.

Well mine wasnt running its max boost also i had crap budget tyres on with not alot of rubber left,i would say i left the aircon on but i dont have it lol.
I did leave the passanger heated seat on but Pedro soon told me lol.
So i think game on for the next time lol.
O anyone know of any good tyres with good grip,was looking at the r888's but didnt want to pay nearly £100 a corner lol.

I like my gearbox to be working! Barely notice it change gear its that smooth, so will be limiting the power starts to 1 or 2 times a session and won't be going over 2krpm.
Any mods i do will be to try and reduce the lag more than anything. TB, RIP kit, different map etc.

OK.......looks like I have small cracks in the turbo and the manifold is warped. Probably explains the drop off in power I was experiencing.

Found the cause :-)
Now to fix it :-( (Well pay Chad to fix it lol)
