After seeing a Jap car fitted with a complete metal cold air feed system I think I might give it a go.

Plans are as follow

3 [or so probably less maybe more] inch bore stainless tube fitted under the radiator/bumper area once I've worked out how high to fit it so I don't draw in water then running upto the the MAF casing as a single welded section just sitting on some kind of rubber bushing the filter will slot into the end of the steel tube though the jap one I saw didnt have a filter just went straight into the maf and to prevent water being taken it the pipe was built in such a fashion that it went upwards in a reverse U

To be fair theres not much wrong with the one that goes to the standard air box,ive used it with my carbon inclosed filter.
Will get some pictures up tomorow to show you.

:stupid: IMHO so long as what ever you have as a filter is properly segrated from the engine bay - then you should be good to go.

Looks nice but for me still looks too plastic which I'm trying to get away from though I might consider a carbon fibre airfilter box as its in keeping with my plans.
