What tyre pressure are you guys using? I normally have 32psi but it never looks quite right, should I be nearer 34psi?

Very much depends on the load - just me 32 all around - full load they recomend 38/40 I believe.

With just you driving they should be set at 36 psi front and 30 psi rear. Says so in the fuel filler flap. Shows how front heavy they are!

Does that apply to 17's as well as the standard 16's Nik?

Suppose it depends on the model - mine is same all around.

In my owners manual (850 estate) it says ..32 front 33 back for loads of one to three people.... 41 front 36 back for five people and luggage...!

According to my filler cover 17s are the same. I run at 38 all round all the time. Then again its wot suits the tyres your running.
Quick tip. if you happen to hit a pothole and you loose some pressure, before you take it to your local tyre outlet, try over inflation to around 50psi to reset the tyre seal around the rim.

it does depend on the tyre you are using.Contis are renowned for soft sidewalls,i would try 36 in the front and 32-34 in the back and see if that helps, sharpen the steering up a bit

Yeah Mark but some of us have aftermarket alloys or from other T5 derivatives etc so you can't assume the same pressures as standard.

I pretty sure that the recommended tyre pressures are quite carefully calculated to account for downforce per corner etc, so ignoring them could be dangerous. Higher pressures might reduce rolling resistance and sharpen the handling, but will seriously extend your stopping distances. Can also lead to uneven tyre wear. Don't mean to sound like my dad, but I'm just thinking of you guys / gals and your shiny motors! :remybussi
