First time round 2 weeks ago - he gassed it and it all went out in a few hours due to a busted condenser. He didn't charge for re-regassing once I had replaced the faulty part
Totally chilled now.

Richard did mine this weekend. Now getting air 4.5 degrees lower than a domestic fridge from the vents. Typical that the damn weather changes :( Nice guy who seems to know his stuff. Has done a few evaporator changes and reckons it is approx £500 to do.
He gave me a card so I can fill in the blanks from Dave's original post.
Company name is Air Conditioning Logistics Ltd (ACL). Full name is Richard Lawry and he is based in Oldbury West Midlands. Web address www.airconlogistics.co.uk

Richard's just been out and re-gassed Nookie. Very nice chap indeed :)
He's going to need to ome out again, as he thinks he's diagnosed the problem, and is getting some prices for a replacement clutch for the condenser.
Definitely recommended!

Same problem here new condenser required seems to be a bit common at the moment but Rich has checked everything and its the only thing left.

Am I missing something here? The condensor is a radiator like object, where does a clutch come into the equation. Is it the compressor that has the problem?
Richard regassed mine and all was well for a few days, however, the system is now short cycling (cutting in and out) so I too will be calling on him again :(

Martin - right you are re: condenser/compressor.. As for calling him again, call him sooner rather than later - if it is the clutch gone on yours, mine and Rich's, he may be able to replace the clutch rather than the entire compressor, but may need to buy a special tool.. the more of us to spread the cost over, the better :)
Cheers

Rich
Someone posted on here the other day that they had sourced a compressor and the price quoted was £95 I think. There was a link included. If you have to go that way might be worth a look.
I spoke with Richard and he suspects that my system is short cycling due to a leak and we have arranged to meet this Saturday morning at Paramount Jaguar in Stourbridge to look for it with the UV light.

How far out from Birmingham does Richard come? I'm up at Nottigham and in need of a regas and £40 seems like a good price or anybody know anybody else in the Nottigham area that does it for a similar price?
Got a couple of quotes in Nottigham...
Speeds £91+VAT (+£10 for dye!)
Car Doctors £65+VAT
So Richard seems like a good price.
