And so the bad luck continues. Motorbike nicked, 480 in the garage for alternator, which turns out not to be the alternator I'd already bought, and now the V40 has started playing up.

The idle has been periodically erratic, and it's nearly cut out twice in the past two days. It's been losing power driving from stationary for a bit, but I actually thought I was going to conk out on the car park ramp with a queue behind me today.

So I opened the bonnet to look. Air pipes look in tact -- I did wonder if the line the boost gauge is hooked into was dodgy, but it looks OK to me. There seems to be a couple of 'obviousish' problems (they may not actually be problems, but I'd not noticed them before).

Firstly I opened the oil cap -- don't know why, but the stuff (oil) blew out pretty sharpish. Secondly, there's what sounds like a rush/hiss of air, but not from the usual pipework around the air intake or the turbo -- it seems to be just behind the fuel rail by the pressure regulator on the right side of the engine (as you look at it). I can't feel any rush or see any leak, so I'm stumped. It seems to persist just after the engine is turned off.

A couple of YouTube videos (from a mobile phone -- said hiss not as clear as I'd hoped, but hey ho).

Any ideas?

I'd rather not garage it a I'm £200 down on the bike excess and probably £200 down on the 480. Consequently not much left.
