Well if you have Nivomats on the rears then you'll need to do shocks & springs.

If not then you can get away with just springs. 40mm makes a huge difference, but remember that the other suspension bits will need to be tip-top to prevent any nasty surprises! Drop-links are the usual bits that are likley to fail.

Well I personally run Koni FSD's & Apex springs (40mm), some will advise the use of Blistens & Eibachs, which are adjustable, but it's a personal choice.

If I could do it over, I possibly may have chosen different springs, but I do like the ride from the Koni's.

FSD's are about £500, springs come in between £150-£300 (depends on the maker & quality, plus a lot of folk overcharge!) Eibach springs are about £200ish.

The Blisten shocks can be very dear, £160 for each front strut & aproxx £100 for each rear shock.

You pay for what you get... TBH the standard shocks aren't too awful, but the springs & drop links make a big difference.

Hit up ebay for springs, you can get some decent prices there.

The shocks can be something to work towards!

If you have a budget of half a bag then the best option would be Sachs 'Advantage' and either Eibach 30mm springs or Lesjofors. RobbieH has the Sachs/Eibach setup on his 53 plate V70 D5

Also check out both partsforvolvosonline.com and nordiccar.com as they usually have bargains available.
