Bike rack options

Ok im sure most of you wont use these but now that my kids are getting older and now have bikes to ride im wondering what the best options are for carrying them around. should i look a roof bars or rear mounted. Although both bikes will easily fit in the boot i still need room in there for other things when we go away.
so what are people using?

Probably go for thule bars and some roof mount carriers?
unless you have a tow ball? but i think the roof mount option will be cheaper and still gives you access to the load area :)

no i dont have a tow bar will look into the roof mount option. any ideas where best to get them from?

If you do go for the roof mount option just remember they are there when going in and out of car parks. I know it sounds obvious but i know a few people that have only remembered as the bikes hit the barriers
