dead clutch

well about 11months ago now i started a topic about how i had been to santa pod for the vw "big bang" show and got my 2.5 10v to a 16.7....although that eventually lead to the clutch failing.. near a year on and the excitment building again for the same show(but with more poke under the bonnet :sinner: ) i only just managed to remove the old clutch from my 10v engine and this is what i found in the gearbox... nothing else but dust:

Nice, looks like mine did (but without the broken bit and mine hasn't got any springs in it) when mine failed last year. In the end, I had no drive at all, the clutch was just slipping constantly and it took a couple of minutes at 3-4k rpm just to get up my driveway before I stripped it down.

sounds like you had as much fun as i did then bomb! trying to get up a hill was a mission in its own right. i was having a bit of fun at santa pod monkey :D
