Hello, Bonny shredded a rear tyre yesterday & looks like the other side is pretty low on tread so got to get 2. On BT going upto a 225 wide (205 standard) improved traction no-end so thought while i've got to get 2 anyway why not make the most of it, so whats the widest you can go on a S60 without major rubbing, she's running 225 as standard so will 235 or possibly 245's on go?

many thanks Duane

I have 225s but get serious rubbing on cornering.. I guess 35s or 45s will be ok on the straight. its the turning u have to worry about.. but thats what handbrakes were invented for.. lmao

I've got 215's and I get awful rubbing noises when cornering on full lock, so won't be getting a wider profile.

What's the wheels you have fitted on Bonny? Are they Thors?

If so, I'd guess 7.5J.

225 is the standard fit to these wheels, but just as you could fit 225 to a 7J, 245 should go onto the 7.5J.

I would advise caution as above regarding rub on full lock. Sure way to damage the tyres inner wall without you seeing it.

yeh there Thor's, not sure what width they are tbh but might just stick with stock size for now & leave the messing for BT

Duane, quick statement about tyres.

Mine has 235's but its AWD... not sure what the turning circle is like for non AWD cars. I fI have PZeros then the rim protection is non existent, so only very slight to minor rubbing.

I even put new stop limiters on, however I now have eagle f1's, so it has a nice rim protector, so rubbing is more noticable.

If you double up on the metal plates from the steering limiter, then it would improve it, but the turning circle would be even worse.

If you went to 245's then the turning circle owuld be aweful, the Clio 3.0 V6 comes to mind.

Hope you are well dude

bloody hell mate where you been hiding?

the turning is terrible on non-AWD's as well mate, still can't get the wheel off let alone worry about what size to put on it yet lol. Your 235's on a 17 or 18" rim?

so how's things?
