i keep meaning to get a spare flywheel & get it lightened, local engineering shop said they can lighten it no problem or even make a new one out of another material

Took 5kg off my Cherry Turbo flywheel.
The Cusco multi plate clutch and lightweight fly I had in my Bluebird was lighter than just the OE Flywheel by itself. Made a hell of a difference.

oh this engineering shop really know there stuff, they used to build/maintain the Peugeot Rally team. They were also going to make one-off hubs to fit very special wheels onto BT, but as always the money ran out first lol

Volvo didn't intend 850's to have 600bhp but that didn't stop you doing it mate ;)

So far so good, my flywheel hasn't exploded yet!!! it was engineered (or arranged)by the guys as SW Autos.
It was not an extreme lightening just a few kgs..

it depends on how well the standard unit is balanced aswell

If the machinist has taken off a uniform amount, It shouldn't need balancing. :)

Machining included balancing... there are very small drill holes around the edge where required.
