I am going to have to put new ones on for the MoT. Any nasty surprises waiting for me (such as the shoes fignting to not go back into their dark place) or is it pretty straight forward?

Yes. pretty straightforward. The only stumbling block can be the handbrake shoes are known for de-laminating.

I would suggest changing them or at least having them to hand when you fit the discs. That way the job doesn't stop if you find they're FUBARed :)

Remember that the pistons on the rear calipers TWIST in to the calipers & do not go in straight.

May save you some swearing & time.

The pistons must be different on V70's then as my S60's just pushed back very easily no need for twisting.

I could be wrong on this one, may be from older versions, but I have seen them & the greif is high if you forget that they twist.

Hopefully it will be a quick job! ;)

Old 440s used calipers that srewed back in. Any car that uses the pads as the parking brake in fact . . .

Who is supplying your brakes?
