Turbo not working/winding up

Afternoon all. Hopefully someone can help...
I have 2004 V50 T5 and the turbo is not kicking in at all.
There are no warning lights etc coming on and occasionally it begins to kick in, but then just cuts and all revs are lost.
Any ideas- wife not happy this may cost a bit!

sounds like a boost or vac pipe off or split to me

Ah, so not too expensive. Is it ok to still run?

why not just have a look, if it's a boost pipe it should be quite obvious as soon as you rev the engine.

Thanks for the advice Claymore.
I have just checked the pipework and found the pipe from air inlet to filter had not been connected properly. Sorted it and got all excited- short lived unfortunately. Seems a little smoother, but still no turbo.

I drive a lot of lanes to work- many have been flooded recently. Problems seemed to coincide- could this have had an effect?
