Well here goes went down to work to get my car home after it had been sat there for a week with a dead fuel pump. (Fitted new second hand one and was up and running last night) but as i was on my own with two cars decided to leave mine there and take the other home this morning. So anyway went down to collect it this afternoon and she started fine as expected so i rolled a couple of yards then stopped again to talk, jumped back in the car put it in drive and it stalled. (strange i thought as its auto) tryed to start again and nothing it was just turning over, thought new pump might be at fault but no all was working fine there so spark was the next thing to check. Nothing from the coil pack bugger i thought now need a new one of them after checking all the fuses but then noticed the dreaded orange gearbox light flashing on the dash, so have removed ecu's now and will look at it again tomorrow but would this problem cause it not to fire?
Also anyone got any ideas of why this might have occured? ecu spike maybe as i was jump starting it. All help need before a have another wasted hour journey to work tomorrow when i dont have to be there.

sorry mate i've got no idea on auto's, its obviously found a gearbox fault to get the arrow but i didn't think it was linked to the engine ECU in that way

Have you checked the wiring to the grey relay under the radiator top panel. This often rots out (did on mine) and kills the cam sensor so although the coil has power it doesn't fire the plugs. The auto-box light may be unrelated or may have thrown because it cut out in mid drive (just guessing there)

Thanks for the suggestion no i havent check it but will do as that relay is hanging loose as it is because the clips have broken

Silly question ,but I assume you've read and Cleared the gearbox codes.I had a similer prob on my old T5 and that cleared it.Hope this helps.

Got to it today and check out wiring all seemed fine move gearstick back and forward 30+ times then tryed to start it and she started fine run for about 60 secs in drive then cut out again same as before so RAC where called he did a few tests and it looks like the crankshaft senor is giving a week signal so needs replacing. fingures crossed thats the fault and no other

BT went thru a few cam sensors, one only lasted a few monthes. Normally has a weak spell were it takes a while to start but does fire up before it finally gives in

Would that be the same as the crankshaft sensor?
mounted on top of the bellhousing

In need of some fresh ideas as the crankshaft sensor didnt sort it. Its going to have the codes read on tuesday but has anyone ever experienced anything like this before?
In basic gearbox arrow is flash but no spark from coil so wont start.

I take it you have tried a different fuel relay, it is in the main fuse board behind the normal fuses!

All sorted now and my faith in volvo has been restored after also resetting the ecu all previous boost problems have all gone and she finally feels like the t5 she should be
