View Full Version : Biggest drop on 17s?

Although I've only had the car a few weeks, and there are still bits I need to sort, but my mind is already on modding. One mod of course is a drop on the suspension. I'm looking at going for 17" rims (215/40) and would like to know what the biggest drop you can get away with is without causing any tyre rub on the arches.

Edit: While I'm at it, how far could I go on 18s?

I have a v70 lowered 40mm on 18's with 215/40/18 tyres and ......

It rubs like a bitch on full lock lol

Mine too,lol.

But has nothing to do with lowering, more with the size (225).:ukliam2:

And to give you an idea, mine's an 855R,so allready lower than your GLT,and dropped it about 4 cm's in total.
So i think your's can come down at least 6 cm's(on 18")

Gleaming, I'll certainly not be going any further than 40mm, if anything it'll more than likely be 30mm (Eibach springs) and sticking 18" rims on, or maybe 40mm with 17" rims on, not sure yet!

i know i've posted it before, but i do love this pic. Lowered purely by the amount of ceramic tiles in the back but it did drive for a mile from B&Q like that without the tyres catching

with all the weight now removed i've got to cut the springs to get her low again, might go for the same look again

That's mental  I can't drop it too far, lots of speed bumps around here and at work!

you'll be surprised how low you can go & still get over speed bumps, i had an ex-BTCC bumper (code name, the ugly bumper lol) & that didn't mind speed bumps. Did rub getting up & down the drive which is why i sold it, & it weigh'd a ton lol
