Needing new brakes on my V70... Been quoted £300.00 by a local indi garage specialising in Volvos... Is this a good deal? Mintex replacement pads and disks all-round...

You meaning AB Gelders in Sheff ? My uprated pads were £80 (EBC RED), standard rears around £12 so it depends on what quality disc you require. I think £300 sounds about right with labour charges. I found Gelders OK to deal with in the past.

No disrespect to TDS but EDC IMHO are not suitable for the T5 - I have heard some horror stories

i wouldn't touch EBC discs again but the greenstuff pads i've got have been excellent & are lasting quite well

I wasn't recommending them either way, just commenting the quoted price seemed reasonable and my point was if he was quoted £50 for his pads he could maybee lower the quote by the difference. :B_steerin

So, what are the best resonably priced disc's and brakes, and where do you go without paying main dealers prices ? I am in need soon...

Lance - Where do you go ???

I had my Brembo discs from GSF for £23.50 each.

As they were the rears I didn't bother going to upgraded pads. Standard pads and handbrake shoes added the lot came to about £90 (approx).

I've seen a few folk quoting cheap prices for Brembo discs, but surely it's just a name and no one is suggesting you are getting stonking top spec discs cheap ?
Like Ford make a 1.1 fiesta and a Mondeo St220 but theres no comparison between the two other than Ford name.

I guess it depends on the part number so that you are comparing like for like...

I am getting really confused as to where to go and what is a decent price...I think Spesh ( or was it splatt - sorry I get you two guys mixed up!!) mentioned German and Swedish ??
