I got this message on my D5 yesterday together with the orange triangle warning light in the centre of the dashboard, and it reverted to limp-home mode. Does this just mean I need to read any fault codes ? It resets itself when I key-off and restart the engine, but returns again anywhere near wide-open throttle. With it being Christmas I won't be able to get it looked at until Jan-4th, but I've been told it won't do any damage driving it in the mean-time ?

If the car is moving to limp mode on it's own, then you shouldn't have any risk of doing damage.
I'd guess it's a pipe or a hose that's got a hole or is loose. Have a check on the vacum pipes. Also check the fluid levels, could be a lack of oil or low coolant? My next thought may be a broken glow plug.
Failing that, just don't use the beans too much.

Yeah what he said :D
Have a check at all vacuum pipes and levels, could be something really obvious but easily overlooked, all the best buddy hope you get it sorted :B_thumb:
