2005 S40 1.8 Won't start

On turning the key in the ignition it says "Key not recognised, please try again". Same with both keys. Wondering if i'm missing something simple like the batteries in the fobs?

Drove the car earlier today and it was fine but been very cold here tonight so will try again once things thaw out in the morning.

Any ideas what it could be?

when i worked at vw sometimes the keys or the ecu would loose there code it was very rare thou.it was dealer fix to re-code .but then cold weather can be a funny bugger sometime and play tricks !!!!

Yeah I've put it down to the weather playing tricks lol

Tried it 3 or 4 times last night and a few times again at 6.45am this morning- still nothing so when the AA man turned up and tried it and it started first time I was like :wtf:

Ahh well all fine now anyways, just glad it didn't have a trip to the dealership :)

new ignition lock common problem and should be under warrenty.
