Mines given up! is it a volvo only part as i went to my local spares shop today and the only one he had listed for an 850 was nothing like mine.Its for a 96 855R and the switch is a large square black plastic item but the spares shop one was a round metal one that was nothing like.

Dude, just take it apart and clean it. Thats what I did, the contacts get fouled up by arcing just a bit of emery paper on them and its sorted.

Hi Mate,

If you do find you need a new one I know the type you need, the round one is from earlier cars. Try cleaning it as Dave said above, but if it doesn't sort it then i can supply one of these (brand new genuine volvo part), our current price is £17.86 all in, posted price, so not really bank breaking but if you can avoid it then thats always a bonus!
