OK. Open forum time.

I want a big saloon or estate. As a toy. I don't want to spend more than 50p so here goes . . .

940 or 960? S or V90? I've already decided it has to be RWD and less than 30 years old.

So do I go 4cylinder turbo and turn the wick up? (Wotcher fink, Smiffy?)
Or do I take the power as read (204ps), lay back and cruise? I'm tempted by the cruise/ICE/leather and aircon with the big engine but not oversold on the transverse leaf rear suspension on the big saloons.

Lookswise I want it blacker than black, shinier than a shiny thing when the sun is shining on the planet of shine and lower than a low thing. Big wheels? Yes or No?

Has anyone ever blinged a 966? Bad taste? You bet!

Naahh, get a 960, mildly tuned you could see close to 300bhp and it's rwd with no turbo!!!!.....That's my plan for next year anyway...

Fire up the quattro or the T5 who cares!

yes i do agree the 960 3.0l 24v has an awsome soundtrack of engine but i was thinking of ease of tuning and cost also all 3.0l 24v where all autos ,unless you get a 2.5 24v manual and dump the 3.0l 24v in and with a few minor mods 300 bhp and wild torque could be had in manual form

Excuse my ignorance guys but what mods are done to the 3.0 to produce 300bhp ?. Seems a fair old hike in power for a non-turbo to manage with only basic mods.

Thought the same myself actually.

Were they not 204 bhp standard ?

So surely a remap, zorst, injectors, throttle body, manifold etc etc

Still a big hike though.

Id love a big 960 cruiser :eclipsee_

Only thng with the 960's is that most will be Auto's.

Just been having a nosey and out of 13 960's theres 2 manuals and they are 2.5's.

And 5 of them are Saloons.

get a 960 saloon in 2.5 24v version and dump a 3.0l 24v motor in it with a new custom manifold and exhaust ,filter larger throttle body and chip, cams reground then 300 bhp is easierly possible .the 3.0l 24v was stangled by the exhaust and emissions and the car was to go against the ford granada 24v and the senitor at the time which both produced around 205bhp and where autos so volvo kept the car at 204bhp

I'm considering another motor, a T6. I'm just a ted worried i may not be able to afford to fuel it . . .

It's one thing to afford to run it, it's another thing entirely to affor the engine in the first place..... Stop knicking my ideas by the way!!!..

..... Stop knicking my ideas by the way!!!..

Just to be unique I'll have a 940 saloon with a 6.9 GMC diesel engine.

Then maybe it will do ton plus performance and over 50mpg. :wtf:

Lol, that sounds like a better idea, all the performance and the benefits of good mileage too....On second thought's bugger the mileage I'd sooner have the sound of a straight six...

a straight six with a straight threw exhaust what a sound and 300 bhp to tap nice ,or a ls2 chevy v8 with straight threw exhausts now that is sex on wheels but the fuel is way too pricy for that .but im still sticking with my slow 4 pot lol

With the right pipes a rumbling V8 diesel shouldn't sound bad . . .
