hey iv got an n reg 850 t5 with 230k on the clock what smokes when its cold just asking if any1 could tell me wot it is? iv got 3 things wot i think it could b valve seats, turbo seal or or piston rings can u do any test so pin point this or is it just trial and error?

if so how much would i have to pay to buy a low millage engine with turbo and manifold?

im thinking about getting it to 300bhp so a second hand modded turbo would b good as well

smokes ONLY when its cold? Cold weather or engine cold? Duz it smoke when its warmed up?
PS, what area of woking do you live in? I was born there, lived in west byfleet, chobham etc etc.

Wouldn't have thought if the turbo was gone it'd only smoke when cold.
Could be rings. Has it been looked after up to the 230k? Mine has just clocked 254k and only puffs out a very little (when hot) after I've been sat at traffic lights a while, Thats a suspect turbo or stem seals.

i wouldnt wurry to much mate as longs it clears when hot, i had a fiesta that smoked so bad my friend said he couldnt see the back of my car through it, then again it was running on a petrol/diesel mix! :sinner:

its got all the volvo history up to 196k then its been done buy the bloke who woned it befor me for the rest of the 230k and not that worryed i just wanna tune it up

I would do a stage 0 on the engine then see whats what before you start tunning.

Stage 0 just means plugs, filters,rotor arm, dizzy cap, vac lines etc etc... Just make sure the car is in good standard condition before you start any mods, that way you know that there's nothing wrong with the car.

its wasnt blue or black it was white but my oil was low and i have toped it up and it dont do it now, so i dunno wot the deal was,
does any 1 know who to ask to look at my traction control (cant turn off/on) and my abs makes a grinding noise and sometimes the light comes on and do a stage 0 tune? my m8 is pritty busy

white smoke, only when cold........................... sounds just like cold engine with conensation and thats all does not sound anything bad at all but then again you never know, it has got a decent service history so should be ok

It could also be overfuelling if its white smoke, :D
